Wallpaper Trends

Wallpaper is making a comeback! A lot of interiors have wallpaper incorporated throughout again. The difference with today's wallpaper and the 80’s wallpaper that left you hating the trend is that it is made differently, applied differently and the look is much more modern and tasteful.

Wallpaper today is used in a much more selective and visually appealing way. It is used on a smaller scale such as in small bathrooms, full accent walls, or just a hint of pattern to compliment millwork. The colour tones in wallpaper today are more soft and muted. It elevates the space with minimal effort and since it is used in a much more tasteful way, rooms feel cozier and less overwhelming.

Florals have always been a popular pattern choice in wallpaper, but in todays modern design, florals are printed on a larger scale with a more monochromatic colour scheme and a simpler pattern. (above) This makes the space feel less busy. If we looked at floral wallpapers from the 80’s, (right) they are the complete opposite with a busy pattern and bright, bold colours.
