Bedroom Plans and Mood Board Tips

Do you have that ONE ROOM in your house that just keeps getting neglected in the decorating department, always being passed over for other projects?! I do. (Well more than one if we are being honest! But that's another post entirely.) It's My Master Bedroom. We seriously haven't touched this room since we moved in *ahem* almost 7 years ago?! Good grief. Anyways, it's time to give this room the attention it needs, so this summer I plan on slowly attacking the task of decorating this room. Lets take a tour of its current state *yikes!*, but first, a little background. The existing furniture we have was custom made by Menonites back in Canada. Even though it's a little matchy-matchy, Its still a great set and I don't plan on parting with it, just working around it and possibly bringing in a few more pieces to break up the monotony. (Prepare yourselves...this was by NO MEANS a styled shoot! Its clean, but not pretty!)

Gah! Deep breath..... Every accessory in here is probably over 10 years old?! And was bought to match my old bedding..also bought 10 years ago:) Things are crumbling. Like my lamp shade on my $10 IKEA lamp I've been using for the last...you got it! 10 years. 10 years people.

I did manage to buy some new bedding from Pottery Barn last year, and I still love it, so thats staying also. Another thing about this room is its huge, and it has a very high sloped ceiling which makes things a little tricky.

I think this armoire is my favorite piece. We keep our TV in it. My least favorite piece?! The ironing board. Thats got to go.

So to get this project rolling, I always like to start by searching for some inspiration by either browsing pinterest, flipping through magazines, or even reading my favorite blogs! Theres some crazy good talent out there in the blogasphere.

Then I always create a mood board for my space. Why, you ask?! Good question. And I'm answering that over on Remodelaholic today! Wha wha. Sorry....it kinda sounded like I was trying to trick ya there, didn't it?! Totally didn't mean it that way. Hope you will forgive me;) But seriously....I'm not going to leave you high and dry. I'm even going to show you my mood board I created for this room, and here it is!

I am over there today though to talk about why I create Mood Boards as well as how I go about putting them together, which I'm hoping you will find very useful and helpful! I do really hope you will pop on over to Remodelaholic to read my article! All you need to do is click here.

In the meantime, now that I have a starting point and narrowed down what look I'm after and what I need to shop for, I can start the process! Wish me luck!
